Applying to DAE (International Qualification)
Can I apply?
- To apply for a course through the Direct Admissions Exercise (DAE), you must meet the relevant eligibility criteria and minimum entry requirements (MER).
- If your result slip or academic transcript is printed in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by a certified English translated copy.
- Your application will be considered on a case-by-case basis if your national exams have been cancelled or deferred.
- You may be required to submit proof that you have registered for the national exams after submitting your application online.
- For selected Design & Media or Business Management courses, you are also required to prepare a digital portfolio and/or portfolio statement.
- Shortlisted applicants will be invited to sit for an online English / Mathematics / Science Entrance Test (where applicable). You can also submit valid IELTS or TOEFL results in lieu of taking the English Entrance Test.
- You will be exempted from the Entrance Test if you are applying using one of the following qualifications:
- Brunei’s General Certificate of Education - Ordinary Levels
- IGCSE (English as first language)
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
- Malaysia's SPM/UEC
- Shortlisted applicants may be required to go through an interview .
- Note that meeting the MER is not a guarantee that you will be shortlisted. Shortlisting is based on merit and course availability in the year of application.
Selected courses require additional medical check-up or specific test (e.g., manual dexterity test is required for the Diploma in Oral Health Therapy).
Minimum Entry Requirement

At least Year 10 of High School education with the relevant subject MER listed for each respective international qualifications.

- MER is similar to that for GCE 'O' Level qualification.
- IGCSE / GCSE qualifications issued by Cambridge, Edexcel and Oxford AQA are acceptable.
- English must be taken as First Language.
- IGCSE / GCSE Grades A to C is comparable to GCE 'O' Level Grades 1 to 6 and IGCSE / GCSE Grade D is comparable to GCE 'O' Level Grade 7.
- New IGCSE / GCSE Grades 9 to 4 is comparable to GCE 'O' Level Grades 1 to 6 and new IGCSE / GCSE Grade 3 is comparable to GCE 'O' Level Grade 7.

- English: Minimum grade 5
- Mathematics: Minimum grade 5
- 1 relevant and 2 best subjects: Minimum grade 5

(Gao Kao)- English: Minimum 60%
- Mathematics: Minimum 60%
- 1 relevant and 2 best subjects: Minimum 60%
Senior Middle 2 Semester 2 Results (Yet to Take NCEE)
- English: Minimum 60%
- Mathematics: Minimum 60%
- 1 relevant and 2 best subjects: Minimum 60%
Applicants who meet MERs may be shortlisted for entrance tests using the most recent school-based results if national examination results are not ready.

Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE; until 2011)
- Scores should be similar to those of the HKDSE.
Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE)
- English: Minimum grade 3
- Mathematics: Minimum grade 3
- 1 relevant and 2 best subjects: Minimum grade 3

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) / Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) - Year 10
Higher Secondary School Certificate - Year 12
- English: Minimum 70%
- Mathematics: Minimum 70%
- 1 relevant and 2 best subjects: Minimum 70%
Returning Singapore Citizen/PR with Year 10 Secondary School Certificates from other Indian State Boards may be considered.

Ujian Akhir Nasional (UAN) / Ujian Nasional (UN) / Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) / SMU Ebtanas
- English: Minimum grade 7
- Mathematics: Minimum grade 7
- 1 relevant and 2 best subjects: Minimum grade 7
Year 11 Semester 2 Indonesian High School results taken in the current year or Indonesian High School Results (from 2021 onwards)
- English: Minimum 70%
- Mathematics: Minimum 70%
- 1 relevant and 2 best subjects: Minimum 70%
Applicants who meet MERs may be shortlisted for entrance tests using the most recent school-based results.

Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / Unified Examination Certificate (UEC)
- MER is similar to that for GCE 'O' Level qualification.
- SPM Grades A+ to C are comparable to GCE 'O' Level Grades 1 to 6.
- UEC Grades A1 to B6 are comparable to GCE 'O' Level Grades 1 to 6.
- STPM holders may use your SPM qualifications to apply.

- Submit your application online during the respective stated application periods via the DAE application systems above.
- Upload the following via our Document Submission System within 3 working days from the date of your application submission (refer to the instructions in the DAE application system):
- Identification document (front & back if applicable) or passport
- original result slip or academic transcript (accompanied by a certified English translated copy if original is in another language)
- registration slip for national exams (if applying using school-based results)
- IELTS / TOEFL (iBT) results (if applicable)
- digital portfolio and/or portfolio statement (if applying for selected Design & Media or Business Management courses)
- Ensure your name / identification number is clearly shown in all the documents submitted.
- If you are being sponsored for your studies, your sponsor is required to submit the Company Sponsorship Form.
- If you encounter any problems, please email contactNYP@nyp.edu.sg with
- screenshot(s) of the error message or issue you have encountered,
- your name, and
- last 4 characters of the ID you used during your application.
Application outcome
- Application outcome will be available by 1 April. You can check your application status via the same online application system where you submitted your application.
- You will receive enrolment notifications via SMS and email by 1 April if you have been successfully posted to NYP. You will need to log in to the NYP e-enrolment system to accept the course offer and complete the enrolment process.
- Refer to the academic calendar for the course commencement date.
