This is an MOE-Innovation funded R&D grant project looking at the development of biodegradable plastics which can be used to replace existing engineering plastics that do not degrade. One of the issues of biodegradable materials is that they tend to have poor mechanical strength compared to engineering plastics. This project looks at developing composite formulations of low-cost biodegradable nanocomposites by infusing the biodegradable materials with natural nano-fillers.
