Manzel Joseph (Diploma in Electrical Engineering with Eco-Design) and Ang Song Yee (Diploma in Cyber Security and Forensics), took first and third place respectively for the at the annual Cisco Netrider competition under the  Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) category, while Li Kang Li (Diploma in Cyber Security & Forensics) was placed first for the Certified Network Associate Routing & Switching (CCNA) category in Round 2.

Li Kang Li represented Singapore and competed in the APAC Cisco Netriders CCNA Competition 2017 (Round 3) and won the gold medal. Besides an online examination, the competition required him to design a resilient, scalable, cost effective and robust network infrastructure that included Internet Of Things (IoT) for a regional company in just 2 days. His win clinched him the top study trip prize to Cisco Headquarters, San Jose California USA in Jan 2018.

The Cisco Netrider is an annual competition organised by Cisco Systems that assesses students from Singapore and Asia Pacific on their networking skills. The competition was run in 2 levels - CCENT and CCNA.

The CCENT category is geared toward CCENT certification and is open to students currently enrolled in, or who recently completed the 1st or 2nd CCNA course in Network Academy. Whereas for the CCCNA category, it’s geared toward CCNA certifications and open to students currently enrolled in, or who have recently completed the 3rd or 4th CCNA course.

The CCENT category was held in two rounds, whereas CCNA category was held in three rounds. In round 1 competition, students compete within institute and only top 5 winners will proceed to round 2. Round 2 is a national level competition whereby students compete against other IHL. For CCNA category, only one winner will represent Singapore to compete in Round 3 against other 20 students from APAC region.
