“Geared with technical skills like application development and cloud solutioning; and soft skills like pitching and presentation, and personal branding, I was prepared to overcome a deep learning curve at SAS. I explored unfamiliar topics such as advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI applications, all while working on real-world problems that added value to the company and its clients. This experience allowed me to be flexible and adaptable within any situation, pushed me to step out of my comfort zone, and continuously challenge myself." – Chan Jing Rong. Google Cloud

Over the past 40 years, Singapore has been able to raise its education level from one similar to that of many developing countries to match the best in the worldwide stage of education and re-skilling. In this aspect, Google Cloud is glad to partner with Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) in their latest innovative approach to teaching and learning through the Professional Competency Model (PCM). By focusing on an AI-first learning curriculum and training environment to be jointly developed, we believe that both NYP and Google Cloud will be well-placed to recharge the workforce of tomorrow and to allow our talents to find a strong footing in jobs available in Singapore and across the globe.

Managing Director, Education and Commercial

SAS Institute

Our partnership with Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) started in 2011 to nurture and develop talent in data analytics through education and training programmes for the industry. NYP to incorporate SAS tools and techniques into its curriculum and develop courses that would equip students with the skills needed to meet industry demands. We have run co-certifications for PET learners and within the school, there is the SAS academic specialisation in Predictive Analytics in Data Science. This partnership has had a lasting legacy, with NYP continuing to offer training and certification courses to students, professionals, and industry partners. The NYP-SAS Partnership has also become a hub for research and development, collaborating with industry partners to develop and test new analytics tools and techniques.  The impact of the SAS-NYP partnership has been significant. It has helped to address the skills gap in data analytics within the Finance, Government and Commercial sectors, providing students with the pathways needed to succeed in these fields. The partnership has also helped promote Singapore's position as an analytics and data-driven innovation hub.

Class of 2024

Coming from ITE, my NYP experience has been nothing short of fulfilling and enriching. Over three years, I have acquired a vast array of skills through a blend of coursework and co-curricular activities like Girls in Tech, Polytechnic Forum, hackathons and community service.

My participation in hackathons such as PolyFintech hackathon provided me opportunities to challenge myself to innovate, apply problem-solving skills, and pitch ideas effectively.  Our team was thrilled to win the category finals for PolyFintech hackathon in 2022.

Through the volunteering opportunities with NYP, I also discovered my passion for giving back to the community and learned that the most rewarding experiences often come from helping others.
