Chain of Custody via Blockchain for CPIB
School of Information Technology

Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), has the mandate to investigate any act of corruption in the public and private sectors in Singapore.  The investigation procedure for corruption involves multiple internal departments and external entities.

The School of Information Technology (SIT) collaborated with CPIB to understand their existing business workflow and to review their existing chain-of-custody process. The use of Blockchain smart contracts and distributed ledger technologies have helped to promote transparency and trust amongst different parties in the chain-of-custody workflow. This has helped to eliminate bottlenecks and improved the efficiency of the current workflow.

Digitalization has improved data integrity, and the use of interactive dashboards has reduced the manpower and time required to prepare for court prosecution. The enhanced workflow reduces unnecessary discrepancies and has helped the Bureau in upholding their reputation for integrity.
