My internship at the Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) has been a rich learning experience where I applied what I have learned in real-life situations. As a programmes intern, my responsibilities included conducting heart health education in schools, assisting with nutrition tasks, curating collaterals, and supporting community events. Through these tasks, I honed my skills in effective communication, critical thinking, and organisational management.

One of my key responsibilities was conducting heart health education for school students. As a presenter, I must engage and capture the students' attention. During the first few classes, I observed other colleagues, such as Johanna, Niki, and Kiat, who had unique presentation styles and engagement methods. With my mentors' excellent guidance and feedback, I was proud that I could deliver the content confidently and discover my personal style. This journey of self-discovery and personal growth was significant because it reinforced my passion for sharing nutritional knowledge and advocating health. This transferable skill is crucial as health messages must be delivered well to the public.
Among the valuable moments, the highlight was the opportunity to support SHF's National Heart Week/World Heart Day. The competent and diverse departments came together to organise a mass event to address the growing concern of Hypertension. I also applied nutrient analysis and recipe creation skills to support the cooking demonstration segment. With guidance, I created multiple graphic materials and assisted in volunteer management. The heartwarming team spirit and effort inspired me to always strive for the best.

With continuous and heartfelt guidance from my mentors, Johanna and Kiat, and everyone else from SHF, my internship was a transformative experience. I gained invaluable insights into nutrition education and developed technical and soft skills, reaffirming my strong passion for nutrition. This experience has solidified my determination to pursue a career in this field.
