It was an incredible opportunity to step out of the classroom, into a real-world overseas internship fora semester! As a student from the Diploma in Engineering with Business (now known as Diploma in Sustainability in Engineering with Business), I was excited to apply what I learned and challenge myself in a new environment.

My main focus was on developing smart technology solutions. One of the key projects involved creating an Android App for a Smart Warehouse. This meant building an app that could talk to the warehouse system in real-time using something called the MQTT protocol. It was challenging, requiring me to quickly learn new frameworks like Flutter and figure out how to get different technologies to communicate seamlessly. Seeing the app display live data, like which storage cells were occupied, was incredibly rewarding.

I also worked on a comprehensive Smart House Monitoring System. This project was a fantastic chance to integrate various sensors – for light, temperature, water levels, and more – and build a system that could collect, store, and visualise data. I even added cool features like getting alerts via email and checking data through a chatbot on Telegram! These projects pushed me to think critically and find innovative solutions, often using technologies I had no prior experience with.

Presenting our final projects was a proud moment, showcasing everything we had learned and built. I couldn't have navigated the technical complexities and delivered these projects successfully without the incredible guidance from my supervisors at EIU, Mr. Huynh Van Y and Mr. Diep Thanh Hai. Their patience, expertise, and willingness to share their knowledge were invaluable. I am truly grateful for their mentorship and support throughout my time there.

Beyond the technical skills, the internship was a profound cultural experience. I had the chance to bond with fellow students and our supervisors, not just through work but also through shared meals and activities. We visited local companies, gaining insights into the industry in Vietnam, and explored amazing places like Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat.

Even with a language barrier, we found ways to connect and build genuine friendships that crossed borders. Exploring museums and historical sites gave me a deeper appreciation for Vietnam's rich history and vibrant culture.

This overseas internship was more than just a line on my resume; it was a period of immense personal and professional growth. It taught me adaptability, enhanced my technical skills, and opened my eyes to the world. I highly recommend taking the leap and experiencing an overseas internship – it's an unforgettable adventure that prepares you for the future in ways you can't imagine!
