Transforming Data and Gaining Insights: My Internship Journey at KPMG
Abigail Lau (Dip. in Accountancy & Finance) meaningfully contributed as an intern at the Audit Innovation department, helping auditors transform messy data into well-organised datasets.

Abigail Lau (Far Right) honed her communication skills as well as technical skills at our internship partner, KPMG.
This role significantly improved the efficiency of the audit process and gave me a deeper understanding of the role data plays in financial analysis. Beyond technical skills, I honed my soft skills – particularly in communication – while collaborating with various teams to understand their unique data requirements.
I also gained valuable exposure to real-world accounting data, such as general ledgers and trial balances from different software platforms. This firsthand experience enhanced my understanding of financial data in a professional setting.
In addition to my core responsibilities, I participated in design thinking projects within my department, exploring innovative approaches to audit processes. My team was incredibly supportive, always ready to guide me and help me grow.
I am grateful to NYP and KPMG for providing this opportunity to me.
