My internship at N&E Innovations was an invaluable experience that allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. As a Biomedical Engineering student, I was excited to apply my academic knowledge in a real-world setting. What I didn’t anticipate was how much I would gain from the hands-on exposure, collaborative projects, and mentorship throughout the journey.
From the very first week, I was welcomed into a culture of innovation, curiosity, and integrity. I was assigned to work on several product development initiatives, where I had the opportunity to support ongoing R&D efforts, assist in prototype testing, and contribute to the documentation required for medical device compliance. One of the most memorable experiences was being involved in refining the design and testing protocols of a sustainable antimicrobial product line. This not only deepened my understanding of product lifecycle development but also broadened my awareness of environmental and regulatory considerations in the MedTech industry.
What stood out to me most during the internship was the emphasis N&E Innovations placed on interdisciplinary learning. I worked closely with the lab testing in-charge and my supervisor, and through their guidance, I gained valuable insights into the importance of collaboration and precision in product testing and development. The team was always willing to share their insights and welcomed my contributions, treating me as a valuable part of the process rather than just an intern.
I am especially grateful for the mentorship I received from my supervisor and team leads. Their guidance, feedback, and open-door approach allowed me to learn in a safe environment where I felt encouraged to ask questions, experiment with ideas, and reflect on areas for improvement.
This internship not only strengthened my technical capabilities such as design verification, documentation writing, and data analysis but also helped me develop essential soft skills including problem-solving, communication, and adaptability. It reaffirmed my passion for biomedical innovation and has inspired me to continue pursuing a career where I can help improve lives through technology and science.
Looking back, my experience at N&E Innovations was more than just a resume booster, it was a transformative chapter that shaped my identity as a future engineer and taught me the value of learning with purpose.
