As the flight training operations intern, I was assigned to various procedural improvement tasks, including creating dashboards and macro scripts using different software and programming languages. My course has equipped me with the necessary skills to handle these tasks effectively.

Under the guidance of my supervisor, Royce Poh Zong Rong, and the Flight Training Operations Managers, I learnt the ropes of overseeing the full scope of flight training operations – from course initiation to closure. This hands-on exposure deepened my theoretical understanding of regulatory requirements. I gained valuable insights into the prerequisites set by both Airbus and several aviation authorities for pilots.

I also had the rare opportunity to receive hands-on guidance from former commercial pilots while flying the A320, A330, A350, and A380 Full Flight Simulators. This experience allowed me to perform key flight procedures, including pre-take-off checks, the initial climb phase, landing, and taxiing.

The A350 simulator was by far the most enjoyable to fly. As one of the newer full-flight simulators at AATC, it features an intuitive flight system and highly realistic avionics layout, capable of simulating a wide range of in-flight scenarios with motion, making the experience immersive.

Besides gaining a firsthand glimpse into what it’s like to be a pilot in command, the instructors also shared valuable insights into their personal journeys and experiences as commercial pilots, which further deepened my interest in the aviation industry.

The work culture at AATC was truly exceptional and played a pivotal role in shaping my overall internship experience. The work atmosphere was that of a close-knit family, which fosters a strong sense of camaraderie.

Overall, my internship at AATC has been rewarding and invaluable. I have a more comprehensive understanding of the aviation industry, and really appreciate the unexpected opportunities! I am sincerely grateful to my supervisor for entrusting me with this opportunity, and to the entire department for their unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement.
