Finding friendship and a sense of community in Korea
School of Business Management

Korea is a go to destination not just for K-pop and all things kimchi. As part SBM’s Overseas Student Exchange Programme (OSEP), our learners moved to Korea for 5 months and enrolled into Kyonggi University (KGU), one of NYP OSEP’s 63 university partners. Along the way, learners visited Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, Nami Island, Gyeongbokgung Hanbok Palace, snapping photos in the iconic Korean photo booths, and experienced skiing! Learners also organised community-building initiatives like the Global K Halloween and the KGU International Food Festival which saw more than 100 attendees collectively. But the learning goes beyond that, bonding over glasses of Somaek and the sizzling sounds of Samayeopsal on the grill, they shared conversations about each other’s countries, learning about the unison and uniqueness of each other's homes and communities.
