SIT Scores at Youth Entrepreneurs Competition

iDesired Team from SIT managed to clinch 2nd Runner-Up (Cat B) and $500 cash prize in the fifth Youth Entrepreneurs Competition (YEC) organised by Singapore Discovery Center (SDC). The YEC aims to promote social entrepreneurship and community leadership development among young people in Singapore. The competition had 29 teams from secondary schools and tertiary institutions competing to achieve the highest sales at Youthphoria mega carnival held on 16th Jul. All sales proceeds from participating teams will be donated to SDC’s adopted charity.

The teams have to go through weeks of online voting followed by indoor and onsite presentations about their business plans, marketing strategies and retail identity. iDesired team was at the carnival to sell a variety of merchandise that are produced by 3D printers. Some of their 3D-printed merchandise are:

  • Gifts & souvenirs (Key chains, necklaces, Potted plants, lamps, roses)
  • Home appliances (Salt & Pepper Shaker, toothbrush holder, chip clips)
  • Electronic Accessories (Thumb drive holder, phone cases, phone dork)
