Collegial Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition 2020 is an AI competition jointly organized by Singapore Polytechnic and Transwarp. In this competition, participants are task to develop suitable AI model to predict whether distribution transformer will be overloaded over a period time using historical data. 4 SIT teams are among the 53 teams that took part in this inaugural competition, and they were among the 11 teams that were shortlisted for the Singapore final round. Team Reecloud and Team NvrOverFit won the 2nd and 3rd placing respectively in the local round. In the international round held in China, Team NvrOverFit put on an impressive performance and won joint 2nd placing in the grand final. Team Reecloud was rank 9th overall, while the other Singapore team was rank 11th overall.

Team NvrOverFit leader, Alex Chien, a first-year student from Diploma in Information Technology, commented that the immense support offered by the school, and the teamwork among the NYP teams gave them the insights to learn from each other, ultimately enabling them to craft an impactful and winning game plan. The competition has also allowed them to widen their horizons and dive deep into how AI can be used in the real world for predictive maintenance.
