Welcome to the School of Engineering (SEG), the ideal institution for secondary school leavers looking to take their first steps in their career, or industry professionals looking for ways to their skills and knowledge.
With our motto - “think innovation, create possibilities”, we are committed in preparing you for the future by fostering innovation and creating opportunities to achieve your aspiration
EDB Institutes Heritage
SEG draws its strengths from its strong heritage. Nanyang Polytechnic School of Engineering was formed by French-Singapore Institute (FSI), German-Singapore Institute (GSI) and Japan-Singapore Institute (JSI) established by Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) to train skilled engineers for Singapore’s changing industries.
Real World Training
With our extensive industry linkages together with a strong focus on developing industrially relevant capabilities and curriculum, cumulatively developed since we first began, our graduates are very well received both by the industry and by the universities, both local and overseas. Our industry-relevant courses, state-of-the-art teaching facilities and laboratories and emphasis on real-world learning experiences has enabled us to consistently deliver graduates who are well sought after in the industry.
Often referred as the 'Youth Olympics of Skills', we are proud of our students’ achievements at the WorldSkills Competition (WSC) - a testimony of our skill-based training pegged to international standards. Donning the national colours since 1999, our students have represented Singapore at WSC host cities across the world, including Leipzig (Germany), Abu Dhabi (UAE) and São Paulo (Brazil). For Kazan (Russia) WSC 2019, our 7 competitors - the largest pool from an engineering school, made up Singapore’s 32-strong contingent. Competing in 6 different skills categories, each took home the Medallion for Excellence for achieving the top percentile on the WorldSkills scale.
SEG’s extensive industry linkages translate into internship offers and industry projects from over 250 local and global companies, as well as overseas programmes in more than 15 countries, including North America (US, Canada), Europe (UK, Germany, France, Switzerland) and Asia (China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam.
But the SEG experience can be even more than the discovery, development and realisation of just your career aspirations. In SEG, a whole slew of opportunities will be opened to develop yourself holistically through our many programmes in leadership, innovation and entrepreneurial development, competitions, overseas exposure trips, and many other areas. It is where a wide range of options is available for you to pursue your interests both inside and outside of the classroom – in areas like sports, arts, music, professional interests and hobbies and more. It is where you find your place in the SEG family, forging and establishing friendships and connections that will be mutually beneficial beyond your time spent here.
