DMMM x CNA 938 FM airs first podcast
School of Business Management Published on 18 Feb 2022

Five students from the Diploma for Mass Media Management (DMMM) got the chance to create and host their own podcasts on national radio.

Going by the group name Project Z, they’ve been hard at work over the past months: developing, scripting and editing their own podcast series. The first episode - delving into youth-centric issues - was aired on 18 Feb on Mediacorp’s radio station CNA938.

School of Business Management’s senior manager, Azhar Abdul Salam, who had connected with the supervising editor at the radio station in charge of a youth engagement project, explains: “They were looking for youths from the universities and polytechnics to lead discussions on issues that matter. It’s definitely a great learning opportunity that doesn’t come by often.”

The students were given the autonomy to develop talking points on topics of their choice. They were guided by lecturers Gayle Quah and Jeremy Chia, and also received mentorship from MediaCorp producers on the technicalities of hosting a radio show, including the art of audience engagement.

Year three student, Rachel Leong weighed in on her experience: “DMMM x CNA938 Campus Radio was a wonderful opportunity for us to learn more about creating podcasts. It gave us a feel of what it's like to produce a segment that would air on radio and on web. It was an amazing experience and the new knowledge acquired will be put to good use in the future.”

Future episodes will be broadcast from March to June.
