National Day Parade 2021 - a SDM Students & Alumni Effort!
School of Design & Media

Motion Graphics Design team worked on Act 1 & 4 of NDP2021!

Our Motion Graphics Design students have once again impressed us with their work for this year's NDP show!

In partnership with the NDP2021 Show Committee this is our 11th run contributing to the visuals for our National Day Parade!

With the guidance of Creative Director Boo Jun Feng, our team of 25 students and lecturers visualised keywords, phrases, and emotions of the songs in Act 1 & 4!

Act 1 is an energetic rhapsody about the pursuit of hopes and aspirations of the youths - not only youths of today but youths across generations!

Our students came up with engaging visuals to bring out the high energy of the performers!

Act 4 is the grand finale for NDP21 which serves as a rallying call for all Singaporeans to come together, and with a renewed spirit, take on the future as one.

Our students put together visuals for this National song Medley segment!

What's different this year was the returning of the venue to the Floating Platform and the LED screen which is made out of 3 large screens and over 30 smaller moveable LED meshes!

Designing on this unique and large canvas as well as designing digital content that will synchronise and complement the choreography of the live performers was no mean feat.

The biggest challenge though was the stressful tight production timeline, which was closely tied to the schedule of the test runs and rehearsals.

Our team had to respond to constant revisions within short timeframes (3 days). Managing design revisions and simultaneously preparing for the time-consuming rendering process,on top of the stress that everything has to be flawless.

We are proud of what our Motion Graphics Design team achieved!

Our Alumni were also involved in many areas of this year's National Day celebrations!

National Day 2021 is a special one for the students and alumni of NYP SDM.
